Meet Paul Romein

Paul Romein

As a parent of three young children, Paul Romein (he/him) cares deeply about funding pressures on schools and families. It’s an issue that comes up at DPAC meetings, where he’s Skwo:wech’s representative, and in everyday conversations with other parents at the park. As Trustee, he plans to press the Province for more teachers and resource staff so kids have all the support they need.

A third-generation New Westie, Paul has owned a small business for 23 years and taught at BCIT for 13 years. His three kids are the fourth generation of his family to grow up in the city. He has deep roots in community organizing as the former vice president of the Downtown NWBIA, current co-president of the Sapperton Business Collective, and a member of multiple city advisory committees over the last decade. He's also a founder of a social curling group of more than 30 local dads with kids in various schools across the city.

Beyond schools, Paul is a strong supporter of the green spaces and active transportation routes that make New West work for families.

“We e-bike as a family more than we drive — to school, to daycare, to the river, to Queen’s Park, to downtown, and Queensborough. Our outdoor spaces really do function as an extension of our living room, which matters more and more as families like ours live in denser housing.”
