Mary Trentadue (she/her) is a parent, business owner, and book lover. New Westies will remember her eight years of service as a City Councillor, where she pushed on many fronts to increase daycare availability, recognizing how essential it is for working families.
She’s just as well known among young families for her role in developing and launching New West’s first Neighbourhood House, where she now serves as interim executive director.
Mary is a fierce advocate for others – whether it's by mentoring women running for public office, supporting parents navigating complex systems, or leading community projects like the Paint New West Beautiful murals.
“When my child was in middle school, I found myself learning more and more about the school system. I was lucky to be able to advocate for my child, but not all families have that opportunity. I want to advocate for families who aren’t able to advocate for themselves, to ensure every child gets the learning experience they deserve.”
Mary will bring both courage and determination to the role of Trustee: willing to push for what’s necessary, and thoughtful about when to step back and centre other voices.
“It’s important to me that people see their voices as meaningful and impactful, and that our community institutions feel welcoming, accessible, and friendly to everyone.”
