Meet Junior Chuang

Junior Chuang

When Junior Chuang (he/him) isn’t chasing his children, you’ll find him running with the Queen’s Park Running Club, or volunteering with one of the coastal long-distance trail races. This active lifestyle is the perfect balance for someone with a very analytical mind who’s spent his career helping others understand complex data so they can make evidence-based decisions.

Junior has spent 18 years in public service working with health data, at the national and provincial level. A lover of languages, he also excels at making technical information accessible to broader audiences so more people can take part in decision making. This helps him navigate government systems and advocate for funding that supports communities.

As School Board Trustee, Junior wants to make it easier and safer for kids to get to school. It’s the reason he volunteers with the Walking School Bus for Qayqayt Elementary. He’s seen how the kids arrive at school more energized and ready to concentrate, forming strong connections with their peers in this shared activity. It’s why he continues to advocate for funding at the school board and city council meetings to promote active transportation. He also wants to help address school capacity challenges and ensure schools have the resources they need to support both students and staff.

“I want to create safer, healthier, and more connected school communities for the students of New Westminster and their families. I want to build on that sense of community and help all our kids feel like they belong.”
