In his downtime, you’ll most likely find Jeremy Perry (they/them, he/him) exploring local trails with his dog, Sol, or sharing good food with friends and family. New Westies also know them as a longtime advocate for the queer community, for mental health, and for their skills at bringing people together to find solutions that work for everyone.
Jeremy served on the board of the New West Pride Society for a decade, helping guide the organization through years of significant growth and evolution. For the past six years, Jeremy has led a City committee that funds local organizations working to make New West safer, more inclusive, and supportive for everyone – especially for children and vulnerable residents.
Currently, Jeremy works for the Surrey School District, supporting staff during sick leaves and advocating for supportive returns that accommodate individual needs. This work has given Jeremy firsthand insight into the pressures facing both students and staff and highlighted why stronger mental health supports are urgently needed in schools for everyone.
“I want to make the mental health of students and staff in our school system be at the forefront of decision making rather than an afterthought.”
