Exciting news! Gurveen Dhaliwal is preparing to welcome a new family member! At the same time, we also note she has decided to end her term of office on the New Westminster Board of Education.
Gurveen served as a dedicated and respected leader on the board, holding the roles of Vice Chair and Chair from 2019 to 2023. Throughout her tenure, she was a strong advocate for student well-being, championing greater mental health supports, including leading the opening of NWSS wellness centre, expanding opportunities for student voice and engagement, and advancing food security initiatives to better support learners and families.
As Chair, Gurveen played a key leadership role in advancing major capital priorities, including the new downtown elementary school and the expansion of Queen Elizabeth Elementary. She also built strong, positive intergovernmental relationships and was instrumental in securing the Queensborough bus - improving access and connectivity for students and families in the community.
Thank you, Gurveen, for your exceptional leadership, commitment, and service to the students and families of New Westminster!
